Q&A with Britani Quindoza

Q: Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

A: Being born and raised in San Diego, I am passionate about serving patients in the community that shaped me. Having played sports throughout my youth and high school years, much of my early career focused on clinical and administrative management in physical therapy/exercise science. After my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, my interests and career path shifted, and I joined MCC in 2022. Entering the oncology world from a professional perspective for the first time, it was incredibly eye-opening to witness the profound impact clinical trials can have on patients and their families. Cancer research quickly became a field I wanted to dedicate my career to, inspiring me to pursue higher education to better understand how I can contribute to and support this important mission. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family—my husband, Virgilio, and our two children, Malakai (13) and Leia (10)—exploring our beautiful city and all its “good eats!” Whether it’s grabbing a California burrito after a long beach day, staying active in the gym, on the basketball courts, or on the Tae Kwon Do mats, curling up with a good book, or working on my many (often unfinished) creative projects, I’m always looking for opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself while finding gratitude in each day.

Q: What role do you play in the Moores Cancer Center community?

A: As the Program Administrative Manager for the Clinical Trials Office (CTO), I serve on the leadership team by supporting strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations that help our organization run effectively. My responsibilities include organizing events and meetings, managing administrative functions, supporting communications, and ensuring our teams have the resources they need to succeed. I work closely with leadership and staff across the CTO and throughout MCC to advance our mission, strengthen collaboration, and support an environment where our teams can thrive. I like to think that I help bring great ideas to life!

Q: What does your day-to-day look like?

A: One of the things I love most about my role is that no two days are exactly alike. A typical day involves a mix of project work, collaboration, problem-solving, and, of course… meetings! I spend much of my time connecting with colleagues, helping move initiatives forward, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and communication. Some days are carefully planned, while others require flexibility and adapting on the fly. I can honestly say that a day at the CTO is never boring! Whether I’m planning an office-wide event, developing communication materials, or helping address operational challenges, my goal is always to help keep things running smoothly and support the incredible work being done throughout the CTO.

Q: Why do you love being part of the Moores Cancer Center community?

A: I am continually inspired by the wonderful relationships I have built throughout MCC/CTO and by my outstanding colleagues. The passion they bring to their work, combined with the compassion they show for our patients and one another, is truly remarkable. They are the epitome of SHOWING UP. It’s something that is difficult to fully capture in words—you really have to be in the room to experience the infectious energy firsthand. It is reassuring to know that I am surrounded by people who lead with integrity, selflessness, and a genuine desire to provide the very best care and opportunities for our patients while also supporting one another. My colleagues keep the human element at the center of our work, and that is something I deeply admire and value.

Q: What has been the highlight of your career at Moores Cancer Center?

A: Two highlights stand out to me. The first is creating the CTO Newsletter. I wanted to create a space to recognize and celebrate the amazing work happening behind the scenes while highlighting the people who make our office successful. It has been incredibly rewarding to see colleagues recognized for their contributions and to help foster a greater sense of connection within our team. The second is helping launch and grow our annual Clinical Trials Day celebration, which brings together patients, research professionals, and staff to recognize the impact of clinical trials. Hearing patient testimonials and recognizing the dedication of our research teams is always inspiring, and seeing the event continue to grow each year has been both fulfilling and humbling.
